Become a Trailblazer
Information
We’re back with the third annual Fall Line Trailblazer to continue growing awareness and support of this game-changing trail. Building on the success of our last Trailblazer, we will lead a series of guided hikes along sections of the Fall Line on Saturday, June 10. You can join one, some, or all of them! Please feel encouraged to snag some optional Fall Line swag to support the work to build this signature trail, including a branded pocket-sized notebook and sticker set, this year’s unique tee shirt, and custom enamel campfire mug.
This year, the Fall Line, the transformative trail from Ashland to Petersburg, will be entering a new and exciting phase – construction! When complete, the 43-mile paved trail will course through seven localities and connect with the Virginia Capital Trail in Richmond and the Appomattox River Trail in Petersburg. With a short section in the Town of Ashland already completed, construction will start on major sections in Hanover and Henrico in just the next few months, and major sections in Chesterfield, Colonial Heights, and Petersburg will be close behind. With $220 million raised so far, we could see phases for construction of up 16 miles of trail starting simultaneously in the next 12-18 months.
Sports Backers, through our Bike Walk RVA program, has worked to build this trail concept into reality for five years, collaborating with our region’s officials, staff, and advocates. Your support provides Bike Walk RVA the ability to continue organizing community volunteers and coordinating among all seven jurisdictions to plan and build a comfortable and connected network for biking and walking in the greater Richmond region. Join our Fall Line Trailblazer today and support the Bike Walk RVA program in continuing the momentum.
