Battle of Gettysburg Tour - Tuesday May 27th 8:30am-3pm

Pre-Convention Experience - Tuesday, May 27 – 8:30 am – 3:00 pm or Wednesday, May 28 – 8:30 am – 3:00 pm

For three days in 1863, Union and Confederate forces met in the fields, hills, and ridges of Gettysburg in the turning-point battle of the American Civil War. This historic battlefield is just over an hour from Baltimore.  We will depart for the Museum and Visitor Center to follow the events from the war’s first shots in the film A New Birth of Freedom.  You will then immerse yourself in the sights and sounds of Pickett’s Charge in the iconic Gettysburg Cyclorama before hopping back on the bus with Eric Lundblade, licensed battlefield guide. Eric will take us on a 2 ½ hour bus tour where we will get out and experience the battlefield.  Boxed lunch is provided.

Just miles from Baltimore, located on the banks of the Susquehanna Flats, is the small town of Havre de Grace.  During this tour, you will visit Charles Jobes' workshop and the Havre de Grace Decoy Museum with its wonderful collection of Chesapeake Bay decoys. After touring the Decoy Museum, we will gather in their second-floor exhibit space for lunch and a presentation on decoys of the Chesapeake Bay.

Take an easy walking tour through the beautiful historic center of Annapolis, Maryland. Visit the iconic Maryland State House where the Treaty of Paris (1783) was ratified, and General Washington resigned his commission as Commander-in-Chief. Get a taste of life in colonial Maryland in the 18th-century mansion and beautiful gardens of William Paca, signer of the Declaration of Independence. After you tour the Paca House, enjoy lunch on the patio overlooking the beautiful Paca home gardens.  Exiting the garden gate puts you on the grounds of the US Naval Academy (1845). Here, you will experience the grandeur and traditions that shaped this institution and its midshipmen. 

IMPORTANT!!! : Each guest that selects the Annapolis & Naval Academy tour MUST bring a valid ID! Otherwise, entry will not be permitted!

Here you will see how this battle inspired the National Anthem. Your tour continues after your cruise ends in the historic neighborhood of Fells Point. One of the original three settlements that began Baltimore, Fells Point’s waterfront character, ethnic neighborhoods, and architectural significance date back to the 1760s. This charming neighborhood holds stories of the formation of Baltimore. A short walk through the cobblestone streets of Fells Point brings you back to the hotel.
