AMER-I-CAN ILLINOIS INC. (A-I-C) was founded in 1991 as an Illinois not-for-profit organization to: mentor, motivate, and teach life management skills to young at-risk individuals and to introduce youth and young adults to a methodology leading to a self-determined mentality that helps them to become faith filled and productive members of society. The organization focuses on changing youth and young adult behaviors from “I can’t” to “I can”. For more than thirty years A-I-C has concentrated its efforts on meeting the needs of at-risk and underserved youth and young adults to develop skills necessary for
Conflict resolution
Gang and violence intervention
City-wide sports
Excelling in education
The AMER-I-CAN Program was founded by National Football League Hall of Famer and actor Jim Brown. The program’s goals are to enable individuals to meet their potential, modify their behavior to lawful standards and to improve the quality of their lives by equipping them with critical life management skills necessary to contribute to society confidently and successfully. It is Mr. Brown’s contention that the self-esteem of an individual is raised only when they improve their lives and achieve them through self-determination.
The President and CEO of AMER-I-CAN ILLINOIS, INC, Kublai Toure, veteran community activist and retired Chicago Fire Fighter, has worked tirelessly in the areas of mentoring, violence intervention, conflict resolution, coping techniques, and leadership skill development for more than thirty years.
We look forward to your attendance at our event celebration and appreciate your additional donation.
