Volunteering at Hands Across the Border is a great way to support the Celebration!
Volunteering for your local scouting and guiding event is always rewarding, but Hands Across the Border Celebration is a memorable experience. In part because of the event's international location on the USA-Canada border.
By volunteering at Hands Across the Border Celebration, you are helping one of the oldest scouting and guiding events in the Pacific Northwest continue for our youth. Not only do you get to work with all the participating units, families, and youth who attend HATB, but you also help keep the beloved American and Canadian tradition established in 1937 alive.
Hands Across the Border Celebration is YOUR EVENT, and we can only make it happen with our wonderful volunteers.
PLEASE NOTE: different requirements depend on what volunteer task you wish to assist with. Our CHECK-IN volunteers sign up as individuals.
However, our event booths are staffed by one group/unit, which takes turns running the booth during the Celebration. This way, everyone interacts while staffing the booth or enjoying the Celebration. We require a group of nine youths and three group leaders to staff a booth. One leader and three youth will staff both at all times. The unit's group leaders are responsible for managing the booth staffing.
To learn more or manage an event booth, please get in touch with us at 360-332-7165.
Once approved, volunteers must register and sign a volunteer waiver at signup.com.
