Event Description
RA Field Day is back!
Join us as we reboot RA Field Day in upstate South Carolina. In the past the event was held each year at Connie Maxwell, and many of us still have memories of competing in the different events. We are excited to announce Field Day will be back May 3, 2025 with some of the same events from the past and few new twists including a new venue on Lake Greenwood!
You do not have to be an RA or have an RA group to attend, but the competitions are only for boys.
The schedule for the day is as follows:
- 8:30-11:00 — Check-in and field events
- 11:00-12:00 — Hotdog lunch and speaker
- 12:00-until — RA Racers
We are asking $10 per person to cover lunch and prizes, due at check-in by cash or check made out to Bellview Baptist Church. Any funds collected beyond expenses will be given to Camp McCall for their scholarship fund. You will also have the opportunity make an additional donation directly to Camp McCall at check-in if you wish.
At check-in you will turn in waivers for each boy participating in field events which will be sent to the email provided when you register (some will also be available on site, but must be signed by a parent/guardian). RA Racers will also be turned in at check-in so they can be weighed and measured for compliance before races start after lunch.
At check-in, you’ll receive a meal ticket for each attendee and boys will receive a score card with all field events listed on it. Each boy will select no more than four field events he wants to compete in by circling those events on his scorecard. (RA Racers is independent of field events and will not count as one of the four.) The field events for 2025 which may be chosen from include:
- Baseball throw for distance (best of 3 throws)
- Football throw for distance (best of 3 throws)
- Frisbee throw for accuracy (5 throws for points)
- 50 yard dash (timed)
- Egg Race (timed)
- Obstacle Course (timed)
- Royal Ambassadors and Missions Knowledge (study material will be posted on this site and emailed to registrants March 28)
- Mystery events (we may have one or two unannounced events for the boys to choose from as well)
After lunch and the speaker, we will have multiple tracks set up for the RA Racers. The RA Racers event is independent of the field events and will not be included on the score card as a choice. We encourage everyone to participate in the RA Racers even if they don’t compete in the field events. Each grade (1-6) will compete against each other with the winner of each grade racing respectively for the Lad (1-3) and Crusader (4-6) division championships. Leaders and parents are encouraged to bring cars for the adult division with the winning Lad and Crusader cars racing the adult winner in the grand champion race off. We encourage you to support RA Racers out of Tennessee with your RA Racers purchases. Cars may be purchased from other vendors, but the wheels must be the RA racers style as described below. The rules for RA Racers is as follows:
- Cars can weigh no more than 5 ounces.
- Only the ¼ inch tapered wheel with the name “Royal Racers” in the wheel and the axles from the kit may be used.
