The greatest opportunity we have been fortunate to provide since 2021 has been the ability to offer contract services to women in treatment and unable to work. The individuals behind the scenes all have regular employment, families, and other obligations. However, we are able to see the impact our work has on the overall wellbeing of those we serve. However, because of other commitments and the growth of our organization, time can be strengthen thin. We contract our sisters to perform office related tasks, virtually, as fund allow.
Lastly, we also host annual events to raise awareness of the impact of cancer while helping women regain their sense of self during their cancer journey. These events are:
A Walk in Her Shoes
An organized community walk that takes place in a designated neighborhood to raise awareness of the impact of breast cancer. It also serves as a community forum designed to connect the community to resources and services to help educate and provide resources to promote early detection and preventative measures. Walks are hosted in the designated neighborhood for 2 consecutive years.
The goal of each year is as follows:
Year 1 - Raise Awareness & educate
Year 2 - Show impact (increase screening services, strengthen community, etc.)
Pretty in Pink
A cancer awareness event where the models walking the runway are currently in treatment, survivors of cancer, caregivers and/or family members of a cancer warrior. The entire experience is designed to form a sisterhood amongst warriors and to help rebuild self-esteem that was stolen by cancer. This event focuses on all cancer.
