Open Water Swim @ Palo Park
We've worked closely with the DNR during the past several years on their Open Water Swimming rules. Swimming outside of the beach area REQUIRES completing and submitting the attached form immediately before the swim. One form per person. 2 swimmers for 1 kayak support.
Email pics of the completed forms to both Jordan and Matt (emails are on the form)
Tuesday evenings open water swims - meet at 5pm, swim around 530pm as a group swims across the Palo Lake (625yds across) (shorter or longer) and back starting from the kayak launch beach. Please use Facebook to let the group know if you are coming, have a kayak, or don't have a kayak. Randy will always bring 2 kayaks - which will be good for 4 people. We typically have 6 to 12 swimmers.
When swimming in the beach area, stay along the rope. If there are more than a couple of people, swim one way on the inside of the rope and then back outside so we don’t crash into each other. We can only swim in this fashion before 9am. The DNR requires that only MWX club members can use the combination lock on the SW gate and know to secure the gate when we/they are done.
Pleasant Creek Park Swim-Bike-Run at 730am, Saturday mornings... (no forms required)
-- Casual swim inside and along the beach rope, bike 20 miles between Palo and Center Point (stopping at a couple points to regroup), and run your choice of distance in the park.
We meet in the south parking area - past the beach parking lot. We use the southwest beach gate.
