Race Description
The CanLake Ultra is a race around Canandaigua Lake during peak fall foliage. The course, nestled in New York's Finger Lakes region, offers a mix of challenging terrains, from flat stretches to rolling hills, all framed by serene views of the lake and surrounding vineyards. The fully supported race has 11 aid stations offering fuel and panoramic views. Not ready for the full 50 miles? We also have a 50k option that shares the last part of the 50 mile course.
New in 2025
Starting in 2025 the race is being directed by a partnership between FarFetched Enterprises and Wolfpack Multisport. We have established a race committee of several local race directors along with the prior CanLakes race director. Our goal is to continue to provide continuity in the race people have loved for over 20 years, but also to make changes when we identify ways to improve the race experience. Most of the race experience will stay the same, but there are a few things that will be changing this year:
1. We will be discontinuing the 25k MiniCan. Introduced in 2018, this race has never had as many participants as the 50 mile and 50k. While this is a good option for people who are not ready for the 50k or 50 mile race, we would like to focus on the core identity of the race as an ultra event.
2. We are adding a bike tour option for the 50 mile course.

CanLake Ultras 50k
Run point-to-point over the final 31 miles of the 50-mile route. With significantly less climbing and descending than the first 19 miles of the 50-mile route, the 50K is more friendly for first-time ultra runners and a logical step up from the marathon.
CanLake Bike Tour
Same course as the 50 mile run, but with bikes! We will have two to three of the aid stations open early for the bike tour with restrooms, drop bags, and fuel.
