Empowering Persons Coping with a Terminal Condition

Thu November 14, 2024 Live, Remote via Zoom 1:00pm - 4:00pm EST
Newville, PA 17241 US

Workshop Information

Description:

The World Health Organization estimates that approximately 25.7 million persons yearly enter the final stage of life. Social workers irrespective of their field of practice will inevitably encounter persons navigating a terminal condition. Corr’s Task-Based Model of Coping with Dying offers practitioners a person-centered framework in empowering persons coping with dying and concurrent involuntary health changes. This interactive case-based workshop examines the Model and best practice strategies in empowerment applicable to enhancing the well-being of persons from the counseling to healthcare setting.

Learning Objectives:

     1. Discuss the relevance of a task-based approach to terminally ill persons’ well-being.

    2. Examine Corr’s areas of task work in coping with dying.

    3. Analyze the Model in connection with best practice strategies based on a case study.
