The annual Floyd Against Drugs Murder Mystery is set for March 20 at Pleasant Valley North Baptist Church and this one promises to be a bit more chilling than in years past.  As in the past, tickets will sell out, and tickets will not be available at the door, so purchase your tickets early.

This year River City Bank is the presenting sponsor of “Fright Night, Mystery at Blackstone Manor.” A popular reality show has one simple goal: to explore haunted houses and uncover the terrifying truths behind local ghost stories. This time, the ambitious director has a grand idea for a special episode — bringing well-known personalities together to spend an entire night in the notorious Blackstone Manor. Known for its eerie history of ghostly sightings and tragic, unexplained deaths, Blackstone Manor is the perfect setting to put reputations, beliefs, and courage to the ultimate test. The cameras are rolling, but nothing can protect the crew and contestants from what lurks within Blackstone Manor’s shadowy halls.

This year’s cast is made up of local business, government and community leaders including Elaine Abercrombie, Severo Avila, Dr. Brad Bushnell, Dr. Ryan Cox, Scotty Hancock, Gail Johnson, JJ Johnson, Cathy Kerce, Robert Smyth, Rhonda Wallace, and Ghee Wilson.  The show is written and directed by Charles Wright. Doors will open at 6 p.m. for the silent auction and dinner is at 6:30 p.m.

Although guests come for the dinner and entertaining murder mystery, the event is a major fundraiser for Floyd Against Drugs. According to the Department of Public Health and Center for Disease Control, in 2022 Floyd County had 78 opioid overdoses and 47 stimulant overdoses resulting in visits to the emergency room. There were 21 opioid deaths and 15 stimulant deaths.  FAD is raising funds to enhance community capacity to fight substance abuse in Rome and Floyd County.
