Description:

Social workers irrespective of their field of practice will inevitably encounter persons navigating the death of someone loved. Practitioners’ awareness of best practice strategies in grief assessment and treatment is vital to competent practice. This interactive, case-based workshop explores the Two-Track Model, Dual Process Model, and Meaning Reconstruction Approach intervention methods. Attendees will gain skills in weaving the methods and knowledge of the contextual barriers to bereavement among culturally diverse populations into practice.

Learning Objectives:

1.  Discuss the progressive ideological and theoretical advancements in grief practice.

2.  Analyze three modern approaches to grief assessment and treatment.

3.  Demonstrate weaving of the strategies and knowledge of contextual barriers to grief into a case study.

NASW-PA Chapter is a co-sponsor of this workshop. 3 CEs will be awarded for completion of this course. NASW has been designated as a pre-approved provider of professional continuing education for social workers (Section 47.36), Marriage and Family Therapists (Section 48.36) and Professional Counselors (Section 49.36) by the PA State Boad of Social Workers, Marriage and Family Therapits and Professional Counselors.
