Patrick Surtain
Patrick grew up in New Orleans, LA and went to Edna Karr High School where he played football, baseball, and track. He attended Southern Miss where he lettered all four years as a defensive back. During his time at Southern Miss, he recorded16 interceptions, 189 tackles, and 31 pass break ups. He led Southern to back to back Conference USA Championships, was selected as First Team C-USA his junior and senior season, and was named the 1997 Conference USA Defensive Player of the Year.
In 1998, Patrick was drafted in the second round of the NFL Draft by the Miami Dolphins. He spent 11 season in the NFL, playing with the Miami Dolphins and the Kansas City Chiefs. Over his NFL career, Surtain played in 163 games, recorded 37 interceptions for 430 yards, 2 TDs, 79 passes defended, 7.5 QB sacks, 422 tackles, and 111 assists.
In addition to being inducted into the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame, Patrick has also been inducted into the Southern Miss Athletic Hall of Fame, named to the Conference USA Team of the Decade, named to the Southern Miss Team of the Century, name to the Miami Dolphins Top 100 Players of All Time, and named to the Southern Miss All-NFL team.
