In the early 1900’s, the small Hispanic community of Detroit, comprised of newly arrived auto workers and already established factory and railroad workers, began to celebrate customary patriotic events away from their native home. The Mexican Patriotic Committee was formed and became the principal organization responsible for conducting and celebrating, with due splendor, traditional patriotic events such as the Cinco de Mayo Parade and Miss Mexico Pageant & Gala.
Learn More about the MPCThe Mexican Patriotic Committee of Metro Detroit (Comité Patriotico Mexicano) celebrates Mexican Heritage by crowning a “Miss Mexico” along with her court to represent Detroit’s rich Mexican culture and community. The Miss Mexico pageant has been a long-standing staple in the area that has afforded many young ladies academic opportunities, networking growth, professional experience, and a civic platform. The young lady selected will represent her community over the year of her reign.
