Who We Are
The Ridge Park Civic Association has been serving the local Roxborough & Manayunk community since 1995.
The Ridge Park Civic Association (RPCA) is an active Registered Community Organization (RCO). We are a non-profit neighborhood-based organization, located in the lower Northwest section of Philadelphia, that includes sections of Manayunk and Roxborough (19127 and 19128 zip codes). There are over 10,000 households within our community, with a growing population of apartment dwellers as a result of new development. RPCA has served the Roxborough and Manayunk community within our published boundaries since 1995, with the goal of improving our community and residents' quality of life.
Activities organized by RPCA include tree planting to increase green space, neighborhood clean-ups, historic preservation as well as efforts to promote zoning ordinances that help protect the integrity and advancement of our thriving neighborhood. We proudly coordinate with Councilman Curtis Jones' office, all the RCO's located in the lower Northwest, the Roxborough Development Corporation, and the Philadelphia Planning Commission.
Some of our accomplishments include:
- clean-up of Turtle Park on Fountain Street for the betterment of local residents;
- coordination with the Roxborough Manayunk Conservancy to plant trees along the Fountain Street frontage of Hillside Recreation Center and from Umbria Street down to the Canal;
- promotion of street tree planting in coordination with the Philadelphia Horticultural Society; successful passage of a Neighborhood Conservation Overlay;
- involvement in the successful passage of a Ridge Avenue Commercial Overlay;
- successful approval of the Gates Street Historic District by the Philadelphia Historic Commission and the historic designation of several beautiful buildings within our geographic boundaries.
We help promote community engagement and ensure that our members are aware of important public meetings and opportunities to provide input, such as meetings around SEPTA's Bus Revolution and the new design for the trash transfer station located in our neighborhood.
