Description:
The World Health Organization projects that 700,000 persons die annually to suicide. Rising violent death rates among middle-aged and older adults reshape family dynamics and the biopsychosocial-spiritual well-being of system members. Drawing on family resilience theory, this case-based workshop examines forefront assessment and treatment strategies in restoring functioning post-death. Participants will apply the best practice strategies and theoretical approach to a case study.
Learning Objectives:
1. Discuss a family’s biopsychosocial-spiritual changes following suicide.
2. Analyze changes in the family system and best practice strategies for restoring functioning through a family resilience lense.
3. Apply the approach and strategies to practice using a case study.
