Not a single restaurant in Oak Park has permanently closed due to the pandemic as opposed to the over 10% closure rate witnessed across the US. What's more, we now have several new restaurants and bakeries opening up in the area.  YOU are responsible for these amazing results, which have prompted us to evolve Takeout 25 into a local not-for-profit with an expanded mission to serve our community. We truly believe that food represents the taste and diversity of a community and forms its economic back bone.

On 11th September 2021, between 12 and 5 PM, at Barrie Park during BarrieFest (1011 S Lombard Ave, Oak Park) we are making it official: You are all invited to the launch of Takeout 25 NFP!

We are partnering with BarrieFest (SEOPCO) and Clean Up Give Back (CUGB) with Beyond Hunger as a beneficiary to launch Takeout 25 NFP in an in person afternoon of food, music and family fun. We are so excited about these partnerships as they reflect the expanded mission of Takeout 25 which includes addressing food Insecurity/Food waste, Sustainability of local food systems and of course innovative ways to strengthen the local economy/community. Barrie Park with its history of environment reclamation is the perfect venue.

We are also excited to partner with 9 amazing local food establishment that truly represent our diversity and taste. Music for the afternoon will be provided by the Ovation Academy and Fitzgerald’s. There will also be kids activities like a climbing wall. So there is something fun for everyone in the family.

Each $25 ticket booklet includes 3X $8 food tickets + $1 to Beyond Hunger.

Many in the community have inquired about Takeout 25 t-shirts, and here’s your opportunity! You get a cool Takeout 25 t-shirt for additional donations of $25 or more. Donations/t-shirt orders must be placed by September 2nd to enable us to order the right t-shirt sizes for you. 

EVENT GOALS  

- to showcase and support the amazing and diverse food options we have in our community

- to bring the community together in person to take a break from the pandemic and have some fun 

- to raise $25,000 in additional donations through the T-Shirt give away campaign  

- raise awareness about food insecurity(September is Hunger Action Month) and sustainable waste management

Note: We will hold this event in a safe and responsible manner that balances our need for in-person social interaction/celebration and community health by adhering to our Health Department protocols.
