Description:

The nation’s grief-denying mentality is a rising public health concern. This interactive, case-based workshop examines the grief literacy movement approach to advancing community-based grief care in connection with the mission and ethical principles of the social work profession. Attendees will gain practical knowledge and best practice skills in grief literacy initiative development applicable to enhancing community well-being and demystifying grief across practice settings. 

 

Learning Objectives:

1. Compare and contrast normal and prolonged manifestations of grief.

2. Summarize the grief literacy movement.

3. Design a literacy initiative using a case study and best practices in community-based grief care.

CEs:

NASW-PA Chapter is a co-sponsor of this workshop. 3 Ethics CEs will be awarded for completion of this course. NASW has been designated as a pre-approved provider of professional continuing education for social workers (Section 47.36), Marriage and Family Therapists (Section 48.36) and Professional Counselors (Section 49.36) by the PA State Boad of Social Workers, Marriage and Family Therapits and Professional Counselors.
