Becky Vest
Becky Vest was born in Jackson, MS to a tennis family. She attended Provine High School where she was the 5-time Mississippi High School State Champion and had multiple #1 rankings in both singles and doubles.
After high school she went to Odessa Junior College to play tennis. She came in 2nd place in NCAA Doubles. In 1968, she went to Trinity University in Texas. While at Trinity, Becky won the USLTA Women's Collegiate National Doubles Championship and had a #2 and #4 ranking in singles.
Vest began playing professionally on the Virginia Slims European Tour, which was the precursor to what is now known as the WTA. She played in the main draw of the French Open, US Open, and Wimbledon. At age 18 she was ranked 17th in the nation following her Wimbledon appearance. From 1992 - 1995, she earned numerous top-5 rankings in both singles and doubles. Becky remains one of the best female tennis players in the history of the state of Mississippi.
She has taught tennis all over the mid-south in Texas, Louisiana, and Mississippi. In addition to being inducted into the MS Sports Hall of Fame, Becky is also a member of the Mississippi Tennis Hall of Fame. Joining her mother, Dorothy, they become the first mother-daughter duo to be inducted into the MS Sports Hall of Fame!
