ARES Bootcamp
$43.40 incl. $3.40 FeeA full day of introductory training for ARES members or those who wish to learn more. Morning includes seminars and the afternoon includes practical training/simulation in FEMA forms, Winlink, OES and American Red Cross. All base stations will be provided. Please bring an HT if possible, otherwise one will be provided during the exercise.
Registration for this activity includes an ARES Bootcamp manual and a sit-down lunch.
HF UNIVERSITY - Friday
$11.60 incl. $1.60 FeeMonday Mar 10, 2025 12:00am - Wednesday Apr 23, 2025 11:59pm PDTThe HF University take place from 9am - 4pm with a break for lunch on your own.
Session topics will include: Operating techniques, antennas, propagation, HF stations, digital modes, computer programs, DX chasing...and more. All presentations contain numerous references for further study.
The fee for the day is $10 in advance and $15 beginning on April 23. Tickets may be available at the door if space is available.
A HamEscape one or three-day registration is required to participate in the POTA Workshop or HF University all-day programs.
POTA WORKSHOP - Saturday
$11.60 incl. $1.60 FeeSaturday Apr 26, 2025 12:00am - 11:59pm PDTThe POTA workshop has been moved to Saturday from 9:00 am - 3:00 pm. The morning session will include a program overview and how to use all of the POTA tools such as Finding a park, spotting, logging and discussions about radios and antennas. The afternoon will be more hands-on with an introduction to actual POTA radio/antenna setups as preferred by the instructors.
Attendees may leave the workshop to attend other sessions, if desired. There will be a break for lunch and a deluxe sack lunch may be available for purchase. More details nearer the event date.

Yes, there is a new name! Big Bear HamEscape™ Join us in Big Bear Lake and escape to the forest, mountains, and lake for a mini vacation filled with exciting activities, informative seminars, and great networking opportunities, all centered around amateur radio. The event will expand to accommodate twice the number of attendees from 2024 while maintaining the same intimate feel of the mountain venue.
Gordon West will be available all weekend for booksignings. Young Ladies Radio League and ARRL/ARES will return as active participants.
In addition to focusing on new hams, women in radio, emergency communications, and getting outside to play, we are adding more activities for kids 12 and up, so bring the family for a great weekend in the Southern California mountains.
