Job Summary:

The Charity Liaison is responsible for establishing and maintaining relationships with charitable organizations, managing charity partnerships, and ensuring a smooth integration of charity programs into our endurance events. This role focuses on fostering positive, long-term relationships with charities, promoting race participation for charity runners, and coordinating fundraising initiatives to maximize impact for the charity and Epic Races.

 

1. Charity Partnerships Management

  • Develop and manage relationships with local and national charitable organizations to support their involvement in endurance events.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all charity-related inquiries, providing excellent customer service and support to partner charities.

  • Collaborate with charities to set goals, strategies, and fundraising targets for race participation.

  • Ensure charities are given the tools and resources necessary for success, including promotional materials, race slots, fundraising platform access, and event day support.

2. Event Integration

  • Coordinate charity involvement in race events, ensuring all charity-related elements (e.g., race bibs, fundraising tools, athlete village) are planned and executed seamlessly.

  • Work with marketing and operations teams to create charity-focused content for event promotion, social media, email campaigns, and race-day branding.

  • Ensure that charity runners receive appropriate race information, support, and recognition.

3. Fundraising Support & Strategy

  • Assist charities in developing and executing fundraising campaigns related to their participation in the race, providing advice and recommendations on best practices.

  • Promote charity fundraising incentives, such as team and individual prizes, to encourage runners to fundraise on behalf of their chosen causes.

  • Monitor and report on fundraising progress, identifying areas for improvement or additional support.

4. Event Day Charity Support

  • Ensure that charity representatives have access to all necessary event resources, such as VIP areas, race-day signage, and support staff.

  • Oversee charity booth in Athlete Village, ensuring a positive experience for charity partners and participants.

  • Assist with any logistical issues related to charity partners, such as packet pickup, volunteer coordination, or additional special requests.

5. Reporting & Communication

  • Give regular updates to supervisor regarding charity performance, partnership outcomes, and fundraising success.

  • Gather feedback from charity partners post-event to assess their satisfaction and identify areas for improvement.

  • Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs), including number of charity runners, funds raised, and participant engagement.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience: Previous experience in fundraising, charity partnership management, event planning, or a related field.

  • Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with a variety of stakeholders, including charity representatives, participants, and internal teams.

  • Organizational Skills: Excellent organizational abilities with the capacity to handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.

  • Customer Service: Ability to provide exceptional customer service to charity partners and participants.

  • Problem-Solving: Ability to think on your feet and resolve issues quickly and efficiently during race planning and event day.

  • Passion for Charity Work: Strong interest in charitable causes, fundraising, and community engagement.

  • Technology Skills: Proficient in using event management software, CRM systems, and basic office applications (e.g., Microsoft Office, Google Suite).

  • Knowledge of Endurance Events: Familiarity with the structure and logistics of running races, including race-day operations, is a plus.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Nonprofit Management, Event Management, or a related field (preferred but not required).

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work on event days, which may involve being on your feet for long periods, assisting with event set-up, and interacting with race participants.

Work Environment:

  • Primarily office-based with occasional travel to race events and charity meetings.

  • Occasional evening or weekend work required around event dates.
